Located 3.5 miles from Wimbledon’s Centre Court, the 20-acre Raynes Park community sports ground currently features six grass courts and six acrylic hard courts – three of which are covered by an inflatable pressurised dome in order to ensure year-round usage. It hosts a range of AELTC events, including the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative, ball boy and ball girl training sessions and an extensive community tennis programme.
Our scope of works on the project has involved with setting out and site engineering for Careys contractors to build the current grassland area into 16 new Championship-standard grass courts and three acrylic courts. This has involved carrying out:
- Surfacing for Championship-quality lawn tennis courts
- Construction of acrylic tennis courts, including a new air dome and associated enclosures
- Construction of a new haul road
- Excavation works
- Drainage installation
- Utility works
- Ring beam construction
- Footpath resurfacing works
- Construction of Maintenance building and access road to Cannon Hill Lane
